TASC is an organization dedicated to excellence in contracting in the public and private sectors. The membership consists of conscientious business persons working together to ensure the highest standards of performance in their specialized fields.

The Tidewater Government/Industry Council (TGIC) is a council of Government and Industry Representatives organized to provide effective avenues of communication, cooperation and consultation among numerous government activities and private industry in Hampton Roads.

Together, the TASC and the TGIC sponsor an exchange briefing program.

TASC Looking for Candidates
The March elections are rapidly approaching, and we are looking for members interested in serving on the TASC Board of Directors and Industry persons to serve on the Tidewater Government Industry Council. Please volunteer to help guide your organization to be all that it can be! Send an e-mail to Steve Kelley, Councilor for Elections, at STEKEL4@COX.NET.

CDCA Quarterly Small Business Symposium
The next CDCA quarterly Small Business and Industry Outreach Initiative (SBIOI) Symposium is scheduled for 28 Jan 2010 @ Trident Technical College Culinary Institute on Rivers Ave in North Charleston. This is an all day event, beginning at 0730 and lasting until 1500 to include a continental breakfast and lunch. This proves to be an awesome networking experience.

The agenda is posted on our site under "News and announcements" as well as directions to the venue and a listing of some of the local hotels.

2009 CDCA—TASC Symposium
The Third Annual Government and Industry Conference; "C5ISR Innovations, Initiatives and Technology Insertion in Support of Global Netcentric Operations" was a great Success! The Charleston Defense Contractors Association (CDCA) and the Tidewater Association of Service Contractors (TASC) in cooperation with SPAWAR Systems Center Charleston jointly sponsored this 3rd Annual Government and Industry Conference December 1 - 4, 2009.

The 2009 Conference was held entirely at the North Charleston Convention Center and was well attended by over 500+ government, CDCA and TASC member companies. Our TGIC Government Co-Moderator, Mr. Jeff Brunner, participated in two panel sessions which were well received.

TASC sponsored a booth and allowed TASC members to become more engaged with the SPAWAR C5ISR community. Special thanks to Steve Kelley and Kevin Camp for manning the booth! Additional details and copies of the presentations will be available on the CDCA website at:

TGIC Exchange Briefing 4 November 2009
The TGIC and TASC sponsored an Exchange Briefing on "Government Insourcing" on 4 November at the Virginia Beach Central Library. The briefs are avaiable here.

U. S. Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) and SPAWAR Atlantic Industry Outreach Event
The JFCOM and SPAWAR Atlantic  Industry Outreach Sessions were conducted on Wednesday October 21, 2009, at the Norfolk Airport Hilton,  Norfolk, VA. The JFCOM Business Management Office will provide copies of their briefing upon written request to business@jfcom.mil . The SPAWAR Atlantic briefings are available here.
